SHOTA TANAKA

The history of Shitanoe Shipbuilding began in November 1978 in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture, a town with a thriving shipbuilding industry.
Shitanoe Bay, where our company is located, has good locational conditions for a shipyard:
1. Calm waves
2. Sufficient water surface and depth for mooring
3. Surrounded by mountains on three sides.

It’s a good natural harbor where many ships have been coming and going since long agoas a “wind-waiting port”.

More than 40 years have passed since we began construct fishing boats, and now we have grown into a company with a global presence, focusing on the construction of liquid cargo carriers and building ships for use worldwide.
We also have strengths in the construction of ships that require unique technological capabilities, such as the world's largest molten sulfur carrier and the world's first concentrated nitric acid carrier.

As the world faces a major turning point toward the development of digital technology and the resolution of environmental issues, we will continue to hone our technological capabilities and take on new challenges every day so that we can flexibly respond to these changes.

Since our founding, the shipyard's work has continued in Shimonoe, Usuki City, Oita Prefecture, thanks to the support of the local people.

We are grateful for the blessed environment and are determined to fulfill our social responsibilities as a shipbuilding industry, with the goal of coexistence and prosperity with the local people.

Carrying on the will of our predecessors, we will uphold our corporate philosophy of "contributing to the global and local economies by providing safe, secure, and high-quality ships, and becoming a company that everyone can trust for the next 100 years", and we will work together as one to push forward with the aim of becoming "the most energetic shipyard in Japan." We look forward to your continued support and patronage.
