AKIO TANAKA

The history of Shitanoe Shipbuilding began in November 1978 in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture, a town with a thriving shipbuilding industry. Shitanoe Bay, where our company is located, is an excellent location for a shipyard because of its "calm waves," "sufficient surface and depth for mooring," and "surrounded by mountains on three sides," which explains why it has been used as a wind port for many years.

Inheriting the intentions of our predecessors and predecessors, over the past 40 years, we have grown into a company that builds ships that are used not only in Japan but also in the "World Wide" such as the world's largest molten sulfur carrier and the world's first concentrated nitric acid carrier, and is expanding its business globally. As the world faces a major turning point in the development of digital technology and the resolution of environmental issues, we continue to take on the challenge of flexibly responding to these changes on a daily basis.

Since our founding, our work on the sea has been supported by the local people. We are grateful for the blessed climate and are determined to fulfill our social responsibility as a shipbuilder, aiming for co-existence and co-prosperity with the local people.
We look forward to your continued support and patronage.
